Thanks Barn Farm for another season of great camping. This is our third year of visiting your site and so far we have managed 4 camps this year with our children. All is lovely here. From west Sheffield it takes us 35 mins to get here so in under an hour we can have the tent up and the kettle on... The staff are very kind and patiently open the shop to sell our kids 10 packets of tic tacs and the play area has been a great addition. The site is really clean and there are no marked pitches which allows groups of friends and families camp near to each other easily. Although we like the big field we have also camped on the slopey field and had lots of fun there too... This is the best Peak District camp site. We have tried other sites around Bakewell and have been put off by stuffy owners who seem to charge extra for cars, extra tents, dogs , fun and for breathing... Occasional night time noise is inevitable on a busy site but it is politely dealt with and even at August bank holiday our children have never been kept awake or woken up by other campers. Thanks to all the lovely owners and staff. We will return. (And there is quality toilet paper too. None of your cheap rubbish...)
We were camping at Barn Farm on the Saturday night re the post dated 5th of September. The noise from this party was loud & rightly were told to shut up. The web site clearly & honestly states this is a family site & occasional party nights are held in the barns but they have never made that sort of noise like these did! The web site also states minimum noise after 10.30pm & most respect that. In my opinion do not take that post as gospel as they were damned loud & showed no respect for the others camping! Maybe more research about where to stay to celebrate leaving for university would have been more benficial! Barn Farm is one of the best sites we have stayed in & just occasionally you get folks stay who think they can make their own rules & not give a frig about others! I for one are glad they wont be back :o)
I was dissapointed with my stay as when we were booking we were told that it would be a suitable location for a group of teenagers wanting a few nights away before leaving to go to university. Although our tent was as far away from other campers as possible at 8.30 we were told to turn the music down even though it was not loud, by 10 o'clock the music was turned off and even though we were not being loud we were still told to quieten down. Following this in the morning we were told we were no longer allowed to stay at the campsite and therefore had to cut our results celebrations short and return home. Overall it was highly dissapointing as we were informed that this was going to to be an ideal location as it was the venue for many hen and stag parties. After this, none of my party will be returning to the campsite and will ensure that nobody that we know will book to stay here either.
Arrived back after 2 nights camping , this is our 5th time at this site and we are always impressed with the cleanliness and the friendly staff and excellent facilities will always return time and time again. Thanks
We have just arrived back from our first camping trip! we are pleased with our decision to stay at this site. Staff are very friendly and the whole site is VERY clean. Matlock and bakewell are a short drive away (10-20 mins depedning on trafic). Would recommend this site to friends and family. We will be returning in the future :o)
We have just got back from a 4night stay and have to say that it has been our best camping experience yet and will definately be back next year. Credit to all staff there that keep the site looking clean and tidy keep up the good work. See you in 2012. Thankyou
Just got back from what was a 2 day extending to 3 day stay. Went with my 10 year old daughter who has never been camping before. Though I have previously been used to camping military style, this was my first use of a formal commercial campsite. Barn Farm went well beyond my expectations. It is a large and well laid out side with numerous fields, generally separate ones for caravans and tents. Not all were in use when we arrived however, I am told that it is generally very busy at weekends - when we left on Thursday morning, they were setting up the vacant fields and from the look of it, expected to be busy. The whole place was spectacularly clean and well maintained and offered excellent domestic facilities in the form of lots of toilets, showers and pot washing areas - I can't stress how clean these were regardless of when we used them. The site offered good recycling facilities too. The childrens play area (well constructed) was a bonus and my daughter quickly made friends. There was also a games room, which also had a fridge and freezer in where campers could leave food, at their own risk. We did not have any problems with noise. There does appear to be a quarry close by but saw or heard nothing going on. What was encouraging was that there was a good mix of people, families, couples, young groups, some doing Duke of Edinburgh. We encountered no unwelcome noise from other guests - there was a small group who enjoyed playing a guitar and singing (very badly) but quite honestly, this made me laugh and smile! They always finished well before the requested quiet time of 10:30 p.m. There are a number of peacocks and they wandered round the campsite calling out - we were woken by them about 6:45 a.m. but I had no problems with that - when I stepped out the tent, I encountered a wonderful view. Good recycling facilities too and plenty of car parking space if you don't want to park next to your tent. The upper fields do have slopes in places but we were fortunate enough to have a small tent and ample space to choose from. Will definitely go here again - ideal for discovering all areas of the peak district.
just spent a night at the farm and found the staff very helpful and friendly site clean and amenities very well presented, the only problem (which wasnt the sites fault ) was that in a neighbering field, loud music was booming out till 06:30, but apart from that it was good
